It’s Time To Live Your Dreams…
Travel with the Oakland Zoo to Beautiful Kenya
Kenyan Safari Expedition 2011
Your safari will begin in the amazing Amboseli Game Reserve. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging Elephants and for views of Mount Kilimanjaro, which rises majestically above the savannah. Next we’ll head to Samburu National Reserve, where rare species like the Beisia Oryx, and Grevy’s Zebra can be seen along with Lions, Leopards and Cheetahs!
A visit to the village will allow us to meet some of the local tribes people and learn about their intricate and fascinating culture. From Samburu, we take a trek to Aberdare National Park and the renowned Treetops Hotel, where Princess Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth!
The hotel is strategically built in front of a watering hole and salt lick and rises upon 40 foot high stilts among the trees, allowing superb panoramic views of the wildlife below. Guests can drink in the sight of Elephants, Buffalos, Rhinos and much more from the viewing decks and a rooftop platform.
Our safari then travels to the Masai Mara; we’ll soar over the Great Rift Valley to the spectacular Masai Mara Game Reserve. Here we’ll witness the end of the Great Migration, one of the most impressive natural events worldwide. At the Mara River we can spot Hippopotamus and Nile Crocodiles, and watch as the game cross the infamous waterway. Come join us on this 12 day breathtaking journey through Kenya’s most legendary parks and affordable luxurious accommodations available today!
This trip is organized by the Oakland Zoo and Intrepid Travel. It is led by Senior Zookeepers Elizabeth Abram and Adam Fink. Spaces are limited. Dates: November 1-16, 2011. Fee: $7000 – $8000. Estimated cost varies according to participant number – includes all flights, meals, lodging, treks, etc.
