love requires elasticity
{being in} love requires *elasticity. love may conquer all, but don’t let it conquer then crush. one must be flexible and autonomous with oneself in order to be good with another. here are some excellent excerpts from a bittersweet and touching article by Kelly Reynolds from Tiny Buddha 2011/10/26 ~ snb
P.S. In physics, *elasticity (or stretchiness) is “the physical property of a material that returns to its original shape after the stress (e.g. external forces) that made it deform or distort is removed. The relative amount of deformation is called the strain.”

memoirs_still in my hideaway, ghostly dreams
my eX sat up from where he was laying
on an old mattress
next to a big over-stuffed backpack
in the middle of the floor
in a cement walled room
adorned only by a small high window
with burglar bars on it.
.
he looked weary
as tho he’d been physically, and mentally, traveling
a rough, long, hard, and dusty journey.
he had on a dread-lock type hair covering wig
which slipped off to reveal tinfoil on his head
when he looked up at me.
.
his bare torso and arms were covered with interesting black ink tattoos
in a hieroglyphic and iconic style,
with a few words in various languages,
vague names, and a few dates interspersed
between maori & african & celtic motifs.
.
the body art started low on his waist,
wrapping & snaking up & around his chest and back
then splitting and traveling down each of his arms.
he revealed it was “his story”
and mumbled that the tattooing & the story were not finished ~ yet.

w.o.w.~on a vessel of discovery {by sarah nean bruce}
we want something to happen to us
we realize no one else is going to make it so for us
we decide to embark on a voyage
we choose to become the captain of our vessel of discovery
.
we seek a voyage in order to discover
a new land,
a new opportunity,
a new friend,
a new love,
a new life,
a new self

GOOD READ_Opportunities For New Patterns!
I “LIKE” this post, especially the part about wanting to create healthy relationships and declaring to the Universe your expectations in a man. i’ve been working on this for several years after being in a series of unhealthy relationships & partnerships with men. the last liaison left me quite disenchanted, but i sought out a great marriage therapist (i refer to him as my divorce counselor) so i could disconnect from my eX and become stronger on my own. Last summer i wrote about it ~ somewhat a manifesto ~ in my article “What a Modern Woman Wants and Seeks in a 21st Century Relationship” – a three part exposé. It’s been one of my most popular posts to date! i enjoy Erin Lanahan’s adventures and i SUBSCRIBE to it (literally & metaphorically).~sb

uni-tasking via the slow internet movement (thoughts on tiny buddha article)
i think i really like this “movement” i read about in today’s tiny buddha article… especially the part about stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system.
i’ve been slowing down for the past few years {especially after my foot/leg injury 2004/2005}
~ plus balancing work/career with art/play ~ and it’s helped improve my life immensely.
amazingly, the overall effect makes me feel like i am accomplishing more {mind~body~soul}
by living more balanced and not pushing so hard ~sb

p.o.w.~desensitizing & minimizing fears
i think i used a form of this cognitive therapy ~ Exposure & Response Prevention ~
{its inception probably introduced by my marriage/divorce counselor}
with my fears {financial, relationship, creative, social} to start desensitizing myself in 2007.
and to this day, i look these phantoms in the face,
i don’t avoid them or
run from them or
become anxious by them.
It is far harder to kill a phantom than a reality.~Virginia Woolf

“You only lose what you cling to.” ~Buddha
when we clung to love it was kept just beyond our reach
then we released ourselves from loving others desperately
and we released our attachment to being loved by them
…
when we began to truly love ourselves
we discovered we could love others unconditionally and
from a place of overflow
…
and because we love ourselves,
we allow ourselves to love others freely
we do not love others from a place of scarcity {please READ MORE}

P.O.W.~true love is independent
yes ~ POW! what a great quote from Mister Rogers. i came across this today while researching an article. this plain advice and honest opinion resonated with me. when i read it, i thought how simple this truth really is. and i realized for some people the concept might not be so easy, it might be outright conflicting or incredibly foreign. because for some people who live & love in fear to have independence & love together might represent opposing and counteractive forces
and an impossibility for now or for ever. yet for me today, this concept of true love seems so easy, so essential, so intuitive, and so eternal ~ sb … {READ MORE} …
